What Are Rocks Made Of
Rocks are mostly made up of minerals, most of the time/or they are divided into three catagorys, they are Igneous Rocks, Metamorphic Rocks and Sedimentary Rocks.
Sedimentary Rocks: Sedimentary rocks are formed from three process, the process are Deposition, Compaction and Cementation.
Deposition means, particles deposited as loosely packed sediment. Compaction is particles squeezed together under great pressure. Cementation is particles glued together as mineral solutions hardens.
Igneous Rocks: Rocks in this category are formed two ways. One way is extrusive and this is formed from lava that erupted onto earth's surface. The second way is intrusive, intrusive rocks are formed by magma that hardened beneath earth's surface.
Metamorphic Rocks: Metamorphic rocks are formed from great heat and pressure.
